Event Format
Co-ed and Women's Teams: Three rounds of preliminary group play, followed by progressive knockout. In consolation knockouts, final placement will be determined for all teams. In championship knockouts, final placement will be determined for 1st, 2nd, 3rd and 4th place. For remaining teams in the championship brackets, men's/coed placement will be determined up to 5th, 7th, 9th, and 11th place; women's placement will be determined up to 5th and 7th place.
All team contests will be best 3 out of 5 matches, 4 singles + 1 doubles. In preliminary rounds, all 4 singles matches will be played to completion. In knockout rounds, the contest will end as soon as one team wins 3 matches.
Men's and Women's Singles: Three rounds of preliminary matches, all players will advance to either Championship or Consolation single elimination bracket.
Men's and Women's Doubles: Single elimination.
All matches will be best 3 out of 5 games, except semifinals and finals of Men's and Women's Championship Singles will be best 4 out of 7 games.
Competition Regulations
The entire tournament is governed by the NCTTA Rules and Regulations.
In competition, all ITTF Rules and Regulations apply, except when superseded by NCTTA Rules and Regulations.
All players must wear their school's team uniform. The main color of shirts and shorts may not be white. Opposing teams do not need to wear different colors.
Players may practice on any table on Thursday, and before 8:50am on other days. After 8:50 am all practice shall take place inside the practice area; there will be no practice on competition tables.
Only credentialed athletes and coaches may enter coaching areas. In singles and doubles competition, one coach is permitted per player or pair. In team competition, rostered team members plus the team coach may be in the coaching area.
Rackets may not be assembled anywhere in the competition facility except inside the Joola and Double Fish booths, or under the direct supervision of a referee. All rackets are subject to random racket testing, including VOC testing. Players may request a voluntary racket test at any time, subject to availability of qualified officials.
